SBCC couldn’t match the magic from Halloween in Monday’s final round of the WSC Championships and came up short in a bid for a Southern Cal Regional women’s golf berth.
Nicole Bullemer, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, shot a 3-over 75 at Olivas Links in Ventura, missing her season best by a stroke. Emily Wisma turned in an 81 for the Vaqueros and Nicole Denny shot 88.
Bullemer and Denny were named to the All-WSC squad. All three SBCC players earned individual spots in the Southern Cal Regional on Sunday and Monday at the Alisal River Course in Solvang.
Tammy Panich of Glendale earned medalist honors with a 2-under 70 and was named WSC Player of the Year.
After tying Bakersfield at 319 on Sunday, the Vaqueros (17-15) shot 18 strokes higher and the Renegades matched their 319 to win WSC No. 9. Bakersfield and Canyons tied on Monday but the Renegades got the win based on a lower fifth-player score.
Canyons won the WSC championship with a 33-3 record and Bakersfield (26-10) earned the second spot in the regional by beating the Vaqueros in the 36-hole finals 638-656..
“We couldn’t match our performance from Sunday,” said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. “Nicole and Emily played well but we kind of slipped after that.
“This was a great group to work with and I can’t say enough about their character.”
