Ventura scored a pair of first-half goals on Friday night, then held SBCC scoreless the rest of the way for a 2-0 women’s soccer victory at La Playa Stadium.
The Pirates (15-3-2, 12-0-0) completed a perfect WSC North season and handed the second-place Vaqueros (15-3-2, 9-2-1) their first home loss. Santa Barbara is 7-1-1 at home this year.
The Vaqueros have only been shut out three times this season, including a pair of 2-0 losses to Ventura. The Pirates moved up to No. 2 in the Southern Cal power rankings.
SBCC is ranked No. 7 and needs to stay in the top eight to host a first-round South Region playoff game on Saturday, Nov. 20. The pairings will be announced on Tuesday.
