San Juan Capistrano is famous for its swallows but Laguna Blanca’s 8-man football team traveled there and spit out Capistrano Christian 28-12 instead, moving into the second round of CIF.
Austin Rusack was responsible for Laguna Blanca’s first three touchdowns and Kevin Drew added the fourth on a kickoff return in the second half. Rusack rushed for two scores and caught a pass from Troy Ritter for the other.
The Owls earned a home game in the Division I quarterfinals next Saturday, hosting No. 3 Santa Clarita Christian. Santa Clarita and Laguna have already met this season in a 56-0 decision against the Owls.
