Cate’s girls volleyball team shook off a slow start against Dunn on Wednesday, getting stronger and stronger as the match went on in a 27-25, 25-17, 25-15 Condor League decision.
The victory moved Cate into a second-place tie in the Condor League with Thacher. A coin flip ensued, giving the Toads the second-seed from the Condor League for CIF. Playoff brackets will be released on Sunday.
The Rams are 10-3 overall, 5-3 in league.
Freshman Cydney Pierce was Cate’s leading offensive weapon, tallying 13 kills. Addie Mayfield nearly reached double digits with nine and Savannah Jones added five.
Brenna Geiger and Gracey Gates did their part, as Geiger orchestrated the offense from the setter position while Gates provided a steady presence in the back row.
