Allyson Porter had 21 kills, 14 digs and a sterling .581 hitting percentage on Tuesday night as No. 10 SBCC swept Hancock 25-16, 25-15, 25-7 to secure a share of its second straight WSC women’s volleyball title. Antonio Antes added 11 kills and Piper Obradovich had 22 digs for the Vaqueros (20-5, 9-1) in the regular-season finale at Santa Maria.
The victory gave SBCC back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in school history. The Vaqueros are 41-8 over the last two seasons.
Santa Barbara posted its sixth straight win and 12th in 13 matches. It was also the fifth straight sweep and 13th of the year.
“It was an all-around steady match,” said coach Ed Gover, whose team broke away from a 15-15 tie with 9-1 closing run in the first set. “It was a nice steady match.”
The Vaqueros will get a first-round home match in the Southern Cal Regional, which starts on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
