Seniors Amanda Moreno and Breanne Strenkowski have been invited to compete at the 2010 NCAA Women’s Cross Country Championships on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind., it was announced Sunday.
While UCSB held out that it would advance as an at-large selection to the championship, only four West Region teams will compete. Washington and Oregon received automatic bids while Stanford and Arizona will advance as at-large competitors.
On Oct. 30, Moreno helped UCSB to the Big West championship with a record-setting sub-20 minute performance. Following her outstanding performance, Moreno was named Big West Athlete of the Year. On Saturday, at the West Region Championships in Eugene, Ore., she finished eighth.
Strenkowski finished second at the Big West Championships in October and on Saturday, she finished 13th at the West Region Championship.
The NCAA Championships will be hosted on Nov. 22 by Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind. The race will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. The women’s race will begin at 9:08 a.m. Pacific Time.
