Royal traveled to Dos Pueblos for a regular-season-ending boys water polo match on Friday. The way Chargers goalkeeper Brady Moore was playing, the Highlanders may have been better off staying home.
Moore collected 19 saves in the cage as Dos Pueblos limited Royal to three goals in a 10-3 non-league decision.
The Chargers defense, backed up by Moore, shut out Royal in the second half while improving to 23-4 on the season. The Chargers will enter CIF as the No. 5 team in Division I and find out their first-round opponent on Sunday.
Royal is also preparing for the postseason as Division IV’s No. 2 team.
“Brady was just on fire today,” said DP’s head coach Chris Parrish. “It was his best game of the season.”
Offensively, Chase Racich led the way with three goals and Derek Shoemaker equaled Kevin Cappon with two goals each.
While the Chargers don’t know their opponent, DP is assured a home opener on Wednesday thanks to their second straight Channel League championship.
