It was a tough night for the three area football teams in the CIF playoffs Friday as all three went down to defeat in first-round games.
Dos Pueblos missed a 33-yard field goal with 30 seconds left and the Chargers fell to Camarillo 23-22 in a Western Division opener.
Michael Spiritosanto gave Dos Pueblos the 22-16 lead on a 1-yard touchdown run with 8:06 to go.
The Scorpions battled back and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 4:03 remaining on a 5-yard scoring run by running back Ossie Toc.
Carpinteria also lost a heartbreaker. The Warriors missed a potential game-winning 47-yard field goal with four seconds left in regulation and fumbled at the goal-line in overtime and suffered a 28-21 defeat to Cantwell-Sacred Heart, the No. 3-seeded team in the Northwest Division.
Paul “Munchie” Aguilar scored all three touchdowns for the Warriors.
Bishop Diego ran into a buzzsaw in Chatsworth on Friday as the Cardinals were beaten by third-seeded Sierra Canyon 48-17 in the East Valley Division.
