Westmont Women’s Basketball (5-0) posted a 79-54 win over La Sierra on Thursday night in Riverside. The Warriors continued their hot shooting from beyond the arc, making 11 of 24 attempts (.458). They also out-rebounded the Eagles 38-33.
Katie Kittle led the Warriors with 14 points, connecting on five of six attempts from the floor. Angel Blanco tallied 12 points while Elizabeth Evancoe added 10 more. Lisa Peterson led Westmont on the boards with seven rebounds.
“It was a good opportunity for everyone to be able to play,” said Westmont head coach Kirsten Moore. “We did some things well and we saw some things for us to work on. La Sierra was doubling in on the post. It was the first time we saw that this year, which was a good challenge for us.”
Next up for the Warrior is a home match-up against #14 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) on Monday at Murchison Gymnasium. The game is the opportunity for the Warriors to make an impression of the raters before the first regular season polls are released on December 6.
Trevecca Nazarene is currently 1-2, having lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) and Georgetown (Ky.) and having defeated Avila (Mo.). Before making their way to Montecito, the Trojans will first stop by San Diego to take on the Sea Lions of Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday.
