Parisa Fallahi and Liz Morris gave San Marcos’ girls tennis team new life on Thursday, as the doubles team came back to win the deciding set of a CIF playoff match in a tiebreaker.
The dramatic tiebreak win pulled the Royals into a 9-9 tie with Beverly Hills, who then lost on games 81-69.
The Royals earned a second-round home playoff match on Saturday by upsetting Division II’s ninth-ranked team.
“Parisa and Liz have been nothing short of amazing all season long. They’ve been a model of consistency all season and this afternoon they lent us their shoulders to stand upon,” said Royals head coach Jarrod Bradley. “Our veterans really stepped up on Veteran’s day.”
Fallahi and Morris claimed three sets in total for the Royals and singles players Caitlin Mannix and Jordan Lund captured two each for San Marcos.
Saturday’s match is at 2 p.m. against Valencia-Placentia.
