Dons splinter Great Oak with ease

Grace Flintermann went 3-0 on Thursday for the Dons.

Third-seeded Santa Barbara High didn’t even give Great Oak a hint of an upset on Thursday, routing the Wolfpack 18-0 in the first-round of CIF.

“We just kept playing better and better,” said Dons head coach Steve Geremia.

Lisa Santry and Grace Flintermann swept three sets each in singles while Lauren Feuer won a set in relief of Hayley Hranicky-Galitzer.

In doubles, Taryn Mjelde paired with Stephanie Thornton to complete a three-set sweep. The teams of Talia Hudson/Ariana Hudson and Meagan Grant/Karina Thornton each won two sets before giving way to substitutes in the third round.

“The doubles teams were giving them a beatdown,” Geremia said.

VIEW DIVISION II CIF DRAW

The Dons advance to Saturday’s second round, where they will face the winner f Thursday’s match between Aliso Niguel and Rowland. Santa Barbara will automatically be traveling if Aliso Niguel wins but will face a coin flip if Rowland wins.
