Channel League water polo champion Dos Pueblos was placed in the upper bracket of the CIF Division 1 playoff draw and will open against San Clemente at home on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m.
The fifth-ranked Chargers (23-4) have lost only to teams ranked ahead of them in the Division 1 poll. A victory against San Clemente (13-12, South Coast No. 3) would set up a quarterfinal match-up against one of those teams, fourth-seeded Newport Harbor (21-4), which beat senior-laden DP, 7-4, at the South Coast Tournament.
Dos Pueblos is one of eight teams in the division with 20 wins.
Santa Barbara, the Channel League runner-up, also opens the playoffs at home on Wednesday. The Dons (18-11) play host to Huntington Beach (21-6, Sunset No. 3) at 3:15 p.m.
Santa Barbara is bracketed across No. 2-seeded El Toro (24-3).
Mater Dei (23-2) is the No. 1 team in the division.
The semifinals and final are Nov. 17 and Nov. 20 at the William Woollet Aquatic Center in Irvine.
