Bishop Diego had three players reach double digits in scoring on Monday, sending the Cardinals to a 54-40 season-opening victory over Santa Ynez.
Elias Munoz led the Cardinals with 19 while Johnny Diaz and Paul Garcia added 11 and 10, respectively. Munoz posted six rebounds and five steals in addition to his scoring total and Diaz recorded a team-high eight rebounds.
Bishop used an 18-point second quarter to gain a 30-18 lead at halftime.
Now the Cardinals don’t play again until next week’s Oak Park Tournament.
“We’re going to continue to improve every practice,” said new head coach Dean Prophet.
