Bullemer in good position to move on at SoCal Championships

Nicole Bullemer of SBCC opened with a 78 on Sunday in the Southern Cal Championships at the Alisal River Course in Solvang.

The freshman from Dos Pueblos High is in sixth place after one round of the women’s golf event and in good position to advance to the State Championships, set for Nov. 15-16 at Los Serranos CC in Chino Hills. The top two teams and 12 individuals will qualify for state.

Nicole Rivera fired a 3-under 69 to guide Irvine Valley into first place at 310. Canyons, the WSC champion, is second in the six-team field at 325, followed by Bakersfield (333).

SBCC’s Emily Wisma shot 84 and Nicole Denny had a 90.

The final round starts at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
