Bullemer betters score, finishes 10th in state

SBCC’s Nicole Bullemer turned in a 5-over-par 79 on Tuesday to tie for 10th at the State Community College Women’s Golf Championships. Bullemer, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, posted a 36-hole total of 164 on the north course at Los Serranos CC in Chino Hills.

“It was a lot of fun watching Nicole,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “She was rolling her putter well. She was very determined and gave a great effort today.”

Bullemer shaved six strokes off her first-round score and came up four spots shy of earning all-state honors.

Tammy Panich of Glendale and Kayle Riede of Sacramento City shot identical rounds of 76-74 for a 2-over score of 150. Panich won the individual state title based on a better back nine score (36-38).

Irvine Valley lowered its first-round score by 20 shots and captured its first state championship by four shots over Canyons (650-654).
