Buena picked up its first Channel League victory on Friday, working over the Santa Barbara Dons 45-0 in Ventura.
Andrew Martinez scored twice for the Bulldogs – on runs of 22 and 24 yards – and amassed 146 yards on the ground. Both touchdowns came in the first half as Buena built a commanding 31-0 lead by the intermission. Kendrick Mathis threw a pair of touchdowns, including a 33-yarder to Enrique Torres. Jacob Dominick also accounted for a pair of scores, throwing for one and rushing for another.
Four turnovers from the Dons (2-8, 1-3) did not help their cause. Buena also held a 283-98 advantage in total yards.
Santa Barbara reached Buena’s red zone twice in the fourth quarter but could not convert on either possession.
With a bye next week, Santa Barbara’s season is through. Buena can clinch third place in league next week with a victory over San Marcos.
