Football is on the rise in Santa Barbara, as three teams have advanced to the Tri-Valley Youth Football Conference Super Bowl on Saturday at St. Joseph’s High in Santa Maria.
The Santa Barbara Bears will contend for championships in the Bantam and Junior 1 divisions and the Santa Barbara Cardinals will play for the Junior 2 title.
The Bantam Division kicks off a full day of action at 9 a.m. Santa Barbara is playing the El Rio Vikings in the title game.
In the Junior 1 Division, the Bears take on the Nipomo Cowboys at 11:30 a.m.
The Cardinals play Nipomo in the Junior 2 final at 2:30 p.m.
The Junior 1 Bears and Junior 2 Cardinals both suffered only one loss this season (7-1) at the hands of Nipomo (8-0).
The Bantam Bears went 7-2 in league play.
Santa Barbara’s YFL organization is holding a fund-rasing event on Saturday night at 9 p.m. at Tony Ray’s Restaurant, located on De la Guerra Plaza.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door. All proceeds will benefit the local YFL’s trip to the National Youth Football Championships in Las Vegas.
