Carpinteria brushed back Santa Paula 24-7 on Friday night, making it six straight victories for the Warriors.
The victory pushed Carpinteria’s Tri-Valley League record to 2-0 and allowed the Warriors (6-1 overall) to perform the Haka dance yet again.
“We came in here and did what we needed to do,” Warriors head coach Ben Hallock told the Ventura Star. “We had a couple of linemen out tonight, but the guys who filled in really stepped up.”
Paul Aguilar spearheaded an effective rushing attack, compiling 193 yards on 21 carries. Aguilar scored all three Warrior touchdowns.
Jovan Saenz contributed 76 yards rushing and Alex Rodriguez added another 46.
The Warriors built a 17-0 halftime lead on the strength of 19- and 1-yard touchdown runs from Aguilar and a 32-yard field goal by Alfredo Maya.
Next up for the Warriors is Oak Park, 1-0 in league and coming off a 42-21 win over Grace Brethren. Santa Paula moves on to face Nordhoff.
