Carpinteria broke through for its first volleyball win of the season Thursday, beating Fillmore in four sets, 25-18, 25-16, 20-25, 25-21.
“It was good, but it was a lot harder than I thought it would be,” said coach Katie Dolge. “In game three, we did not play volleyball. We broke down and stopped talking. We picked it up in game 4.”
The Warriors rallied from a five-point deficit in the fourth set to improve to 1-3 in the Frontier League and 1-9 overall.
Erin Callaway paced Carpinteria with nine kills and six aces. Setter Genny Annable dished out 29 aces and served four aces.
Outside hitter Meli Musson filled in at libero “and converted quite well,” said Dolge. She picked up 12 digs.
