Nicole Bullemer shot 80 on Monday and Anna Samson carded an 82, guiding the SBCC women’s golf squad to a third-place finish in WSC No. 7 at Riverlakes GC in Bakersfield.
Canyons won the match with 321 strokes to clinch the WSC season title and a regional playoff berth. Bakersfield was second at 331, followed by the Vaqueros at 337.
Dee Ray of Bakersfield was the medalist at even-par 72.
“It was a windy day and pretty cold,“ said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez, whose team is third in the WSC standings at 14-14. “Overall, I was pleased with our effort but all pistons still aren’t firing. We need to get it done in the WSC Finals.”
The conference finals, which count as WSC matches 8 and 9, will take place on Sunday and Monday at Olivas Links in Ventura. SBCC could earn a regional berth by posting the lowest 36-hole score besides Canyons.
