Three days after suffering its first loss, SBCC bounced back with a 4-0 shutout of Oxnard on Tuesday night in a women’s soccer match at La Playa Stadium.
The Vaqueros, ranked No. 8 in Southern Cal and 11th in the state, improved to 9-1-1 and 3-0 in the WSC North. Oxnard fell to 8-4-2 and 1-3-1.
Brittany Brennhofer scored in the 21st minute on an assist from Katherine Earle. Four minutes later, Jackie Schmidt made it 2-0 after taking a pass from Jessica Domenichelli.
Domenichelli tallied her 14th goal of the year in the 65th minute. The freshman forward took a through ball from Jenna Rubin and beat the keeper one-on-one. In the 78th minute, Nicole Payne-Duhe got a pass from Ali Raack, cut back from the right flank and beat the keeper with her left foot.
It was the seventh win in eight games for the Vaqueros, who are tied for first with Ventura (3-0) and Moorpark (3-1).
“Sometimes, it’s tough to come back from a tough loss like the one we had at Fresno (ranked No. 1 in the state),” said coach John Sisterson. “We played hard tonight and got our just rewards.”
The Vaqueros will take on Cuesta on Friday at 7 p.m. at La Playa.
