Briana Lopez was honored by the Great West Conference for the second time this season.
The former Santa Barbara High star was named the Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in wins over Howard (2-0) and Delaware (State). The freshman forward scored both goals against Howard and had a goal and two assists in the Delware State victory.
Lopez leads the team with nine goals and six assists.
She earned her first GWC player of the week award in the first week of the season.
South Carolina State is 4-0-0 in conference play and 10-5-1 overall.
YOUNG GUN: Former UCSB star and Texas Rangers third baseman Michael Young has snapped his playoff batting slump against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship series.
Young, playing in the postseason for the first time in his career, was batting 6 for 15 with three RBIs after three games against the Yankees.
Against Tampa Bay in the Divisional Series, he went 3-for-20, but one of his hits was a three-run home run in Game 2, a 5-0 win.
