The Cate girls tennis team improved its Condor league record to 4-0 by defeating Dunn 12-6 on Wednesday in Santa Ynez.
Isabelle Speers swept three sets for Cate from the No. 2 singles slot.
“Isabelle has played really solid tennis moving up and playing singles against Dunn both matches,” said Rams head coach Barbara DeGroot. “She’s very steady from the baseline but willing to come in to the net when the situation presents itself.”
The No. 1 duo of Sarah Cohen and Annaliese Schroeder lost only one game in their three set effort.
“Annaliese and Sarah can really play solid doubles,” DeGroot added. “With Annaliese’s sharp returns and Sarah’s formidable serve and volleys they can pose lots of problems for their opponents”
Also turning in some very impressive doubles wins were Caitlin Cain and Amy Ahn, who went 3-0, losing only four games all day.
“They’re a tenacious team who find a way to win,” DeGroot said of Cain and Ahn.
Cate faces Laguna Blanca on Saturday at Laguna and Thacher next Wednesday in Ojai for their final Condor League matches.
