Sophomore setter Kelsey Soos had 30 assists, 10 digs and four aces on Friday night to guide SBCC to a 25-20, 25-14, 25-15 women’s volleyball sweep of Cuesta at the Sports Pavilion.
Antonia Antes contributed 11 kills, 10 digs, two aces and a .435 hitting percentage for the Vaqueros (13-4, 2-0 WSC), who recorded their fifth straight win and fourth sweep in a row.
SBCC, ranked 10th in the state, is 3-0 at home this year and has won 19 of its last 20 home matches.
Allyson Porter had 12 kills and hit .375 while Jenn Waddill and Nicole Bergmann combined for 10 kills and hit over .525 in the middle.

The Vaqueros jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first set, 10-4 in the second and 9-0 in the third but Cuesta rallied each time. There were four ties in the first set before Soos served the last four points with aces on the last two.
“Cuesta is a very disciplined team that plays hard,” said coach Ed Gover. “In volleyball, leads can evaporate quickly. You just have to be steady through that and make sure you’re ready for your run.”
The Vaqueros built a 21-10 lead in the second set on a kill by Waddill and a block from Bergmann.
“We’ve been working really hard on reading the setter and reading where the middle’s going,” said Bergmann, a 6-foot sophomore from Nordhoff High. “When we do it right, we just clamp on it.”
The Vaqueros will play two on the road next week — Tuesday at Oxnard and Friday at Moorpark.
