Pierre Mattsson converted a free kick from 30 yards out in the 14th minute on Friday afternoon and SBCC’s defense made it stand up for a 1-0 WSC men’s soccer victory at Oxnard.
Goalie Yonha Adrabi earned his sixth straight shutout for the Vaqueros (7-1, 2-0), who are ranked fifth in the state and third in Southern California.
Salvador Orozco hit the post with a shot in the 70th minute.
“It was a tight game with a lot of tough tackles,” said assistant coach Paul Hart. “Branden Tangel and Roberto Santana both played well on defense.”
The Vaqueros will host Citrus on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
