Nicole Denny shot 80 on Monday and Emila Wisma had an 82 as SBCC took fourth in the North-South Classic women’s golf tournament at Morro Bay GC.
The Vaqueros shot 332 and finished with a 36-hole total of 658. Canyons, who’s unbeaten in WSC play, won the 12-team tourney with a sizzling 304 (76.0 average) and a 625 total. The Cougars beat defending state champion Sacramento City by eight shots and Bakersfield by 17.
Kayla Riede of Sacramento was the medalist with rounds of 74 and 73 for a 3-over 147.
Vaquero freshman Nicole Bullemer (75-85) finished ninth at 160.
“We hung with the some of the best teams in the state,” said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez, the tournament director. “It was a good experience for our team.”
SBCC will compete in WSC No. 5 on Monday at Marshall Canyon GC in La Verne.
