San Marcos couldn’t build off a good start and fell to Buena 10-8 in a Channel League water polo match on Tuesday.
The Royals led 2-0 after the first period but were outscored 4-0 in the second period.
“We made some big mistakes in the second quarter that led to easy goals,” said San Marcos coach Jeff Ashton. “We fought back, bringing the game to within one goal two times in the second half but were unable to complete the comeback.”
Andre Rivera and James Sweeney each scored two goals, had three assists and four steals for the Royals.
