Royals pin first loss on No. 7 Arroyo Grande

Catilin Mannix and Jordan Lund swept their three sets in singles to propel San Marcos to 13-5 non-league win over Arroyo Grande, handing the Eagles their first loss of the season.
“We won almost all of the close sets and when you play a talented and well-coached team like Arroyo Grande, the close sets usually decide the match. Today was no different,” said San Marcos coach Jarrod Bradley.
Arroyo Grande (12-1) is ranked seventh in CIF Division 3.
The Royals registered four sweeps in the match with doubles teams Parisa Fallahi and Liz Morris improving their season record to 37-6 while Christine Pearson and Amy Ransohoff improved to 32-7.
In singles, Mannix swept her sets 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-0.
“Caitlin was quick to the ball today and played some of the best defense she’s played all year,” Bradley said. “Her intensity and focus were on full display from the first point of the match until the end.”
Lund won her sets  6-4, 6-3, 6-0.
“Jordan was a model of consistency on the court today. She dominated from the baseline and was opportunistic at the net, winning a lot of easy points,” said Bradley.
The Royals (12-4) plays at Dos Pueblos on Thursday in the final Channel League match of the season.
