The fire alarm went off at Ventura High School just before Tuesday’s girls volleyball match, and the host Cougars caught fire right away in a 25-5, 25-3, 25-23 sweep of visiting San Marcos.
Iris Campbell, Jaimie Mayner and Courtney LaViale each had five kills for the Royals, and coach Erica Downing said that Campbell played her best all-around match of the season.
“We just didn’t have any competitive fire today,” said Downing
The Royals, now 0-5 in Channel League play, host Santa Barbara on Thursday.
