San Marcos’ boys water polo team suffered its second straight close loss on Wednesday, this time 11-8 to Newbury Park.
Jorge Flores had a solid game for the Royals, posting totals of three goals, three steals and an assist. Andrew Rivera scored twice while Tyler Lisea, Spencer Kemp and James Sweeney each added a goal.

“The game today felt like a replay of yesterday’s Buena game, where we did some good things on offense and worked hard to earn our goals but made some mistakes on the defensive side of the ball to give them easy scores,” lamented Royals head coach Jeff Ashton.
Chris Bebb recorded 10 saves in the cage.
