Westmont Women’s Soccer battled with the Lions of Vanguard on the final day of the Golden State Athletic Conference season and came away a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods.
Jameisha Washington supplied the Warriors’ goal in the nineteenth minute. A shot by Washington from five yards out started a scramble in the box that included several shots by both Washington and Melanie Greene. But it was Washington’s poke that finally found the back of the net and gave the Warriors a 1-0 advantage.
The lead would not last long, however. The Lions found the equalizer off the foot of Danielle Dintino who scored after receiving a pass from Kristin Thuve. Despite 17 other shots by Vanguard and 12 by Westmont, neither team found the game-winner.
Westmont goalkeeper Roxanne Love tallied nine saves for the Warriors to keep Westmont in the game.
