Defending Tri-Valley League champion Malibu was in Cate’s pool on Wednesday, and the Sharks were able to move in for the kill 14-6.
Despite the final score, Rams head coach Nathan Alldredge said he thought his team played its best water polo of the season during the second half. Cate outscored the Sharks 4-3 in last final two quarters.
Blake Mackall broke out for a season-high four goals while Jake Greewald and Miles Barney added a goal each.
Cate hosts Carpinteria on Friday at 3:15 p.m.
