Laguna Blanca’s No. 2 girls volleyball team put together a not-at-all easy sweep of Cate on Wednesday, recording a 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 Condor League victory.
“I thought the key to the match tonight was the defense of Lillie Hodges,” said Owls head coach Jim Alzina, noting her game-high 18 digs and the need to put away a hungry Cate team.
Fiona Jessup also reached double digits in digs with 14 and added eight kills. Krysta Brown was another with eight kills.
Amanda Schulenberg led Laguna Blanca (11-1, 4-0) with 15 kills.
Cate falls to 3-2 in league and 7-2 overall.
“We played aggressive and went after them,” said Cate head coach Greg Novak.
Addie Mayfield and Savannah Jones led the Rams in kills with nine and eight, respectively.
The second meeting of the two teams is set for next Friday.
