No. 2 Fresno City was too much for No. 8 SBCC on Saturday afternoon as the Rams handed the visiting Vaqueros their first loss in women’s soccer, 3-0.
Santa Barbara (8-1-1) had its six-game win streak halted. Fresno (9-2-1), which led 2-0 at halftime, vaulted into the top spot in the state power rankings after the victory.
“Things didn’t go well on a hot day after a long journey,” said SBCC coach John Sisterson. “We just didn’t perform well. We did a good job of controlling the ball in the last 40 minutes but we never got a good chance to score.”
The Vaqueros will put their 2-0 WSC North record on the line in two home games next week — Tuesday against Oxnard and Friday against Cuesta. Both kick off at 7 p.m.
