Providence Hall’s girls volleyball team won the first set of Saturday’s match with visiting Orcutt Academy, but couldn’t hold on in a 17-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-23 loss at the Paige youth Center.
It was the first time this season in seven matches that the Lions (2-5) had played more than three sets.
“It could have gone either way in that last game,” said Lions assistant Laura Trudelle. “It went until the bitter end. It really was exciting.”
Faith Emerson was a force for Providence Hall, collecting eight kills and eight aces. Olivia Barroca came through with 13 digs and plenty of energetic play, while Cielo Prischak “had a calming presence on the court,” according to Trudelle.
The Lions are back out on the road for their next match, a Tuesday matchup at West Valley Christian.
