Providence Hall is battling to make the CIF girls volleyball playoffs in its first year of competition.
The Lions, who need to finish with a .500 record to be considered for an at-large berth, evened their mark at 6-6 with a five-set win over West Valley Christian on Thursday.
Lacy Gonzalez turned in a solid performance with nine kills (with just one error), 18 assists and eight service aces and no service errors. Many of her sets went to Faith Emerson, who put away 11 kills and added nine assists and nine aces.
Assistant coach Lauren Trudelle also cited the play of Dominique Harris and Jenna Wilcox.
Providence Halls has four matches remaining. It plays at Orcutt Academy on Saturday.
