No. 3-ranked Azusa Pacific was the aggressor on Wednesday in a Golden State Athletic Conference showdown at Westmont, out-shooting and out-fouling the Warriors on its way to a 2-0 conference win.
Azusa fired away for 18 shots to Westmont’s three. The Cougars were whistled for fouls 19 times to 10 times for the Warriors.
Azusa Pacific’s leading scorer on the season, Laura Feehs, gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. It stood until the 80th minute when Britanny Flanagan gave Azusa Pacific a 2-0 lead.
The Cougars are now 6-1-1 in conference and 11-1-2 overall. Westmont is 3-3 in GSAC play and tied with Fresno Pacific for fifth in the conference standings.
