Mater Dei made Dos Pueblos’ trip south feel a little longer on Wednesday, keeping the Chargers at arm’s length throughout a 12-7 non-league decision.
“It was a rough one,” said DP head coach Chris Parrish.
It was the third loss of the season for the No. 6 Chargers(13-3, 3-0), with all three coming against the Division’s top teams. Mater Dei is No. 2. Dos Pueblos returns to Channel League play next Tuesday against San Marcos.
Three Chargers found the scoring column, led by Derek Shoemaker’s 3 goals. Chase Racich and Kevin Cappon matched each other with two apiece. Brady Moore stopped 14 shots in the cage.
The two teams may see each other again this season as Parrish thinks there’s a good chance they will meet again in the second round of the playoffs.
