Already playing without its starting setter, SBCC lost its libero to injury in the second set on Friday night and Moorpark rallied for a 3-2 women’s volleyball victory at Moorpark. The scores were 25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-6.
The Raiders (9-6, 4-0) took sole possession of first place in the WSC North by snapping a six-match win streak by the 10th-ranked Vaqueros (14-5, 3-1).
Allyson Porter had 17 kills and 17 digs while Antonia Antes had 12 kills and Hanna Powers contributed 10 digs. Sophomore setter Kelsey Soos missed her second straight match with an injury and libero Piper Obradovich was hurt in the second set and never returned.

“Their middle blocker, Karissa (Flack), got hot and we couldn’t stop her,” said SBCC coach Ed Gover. “When you lose your libero and your starting setter, you’re at a real disadvantage.
“Mariah Mathews (the backup setter) set a good match and we tried our hardest but it’s tough to beat a good team like Moorpark on the road.”
The Vaqueros will complete the first round of WSC play on Tuesday when they host Hancock at 7 p.m.
