STOCKTON – The UCSB women’s volleyball team swept Pacific on Friday night, 29-27, 25-22, 26-24.
The Gauchos were led by senior Charlene DeHoog’s 18 kills while hitting .327 while Kara Sherrard was the other UCSB player to record double-digits as she had 13 putaways.
Against their former Associate Head Coach Greg Gibbons, who now is the head coach of the Tigers, UCSB rallied from a 19-14 deficit in the first set and a 19-13 deficit in the third set to capture the win. The Gauchos are now 11-8 overall and 5-1 in the Big West. Pacific falls to 10-8, 3-4.
Behind a strong defensive effort that saw three Gauchos record double-digit digs – Kelly Heenan had 14 digs, Chelsey Lowe had 13 and Sherrard had 12 – UCSB also hit .292 as a team. Setter Dana Vargas had 44 assists for the Gauchos.
Santa Barbara finishes off its four-match road trip at UC Davis on Saturday with a 7 p.m. match.
