Olivia Fanaro earned medalist honors for the first time this season in Santa Barbara High’s 243-272 girls golf win over San Marcos at Santa Barbara Golf Club.
“It was great to see Olivia as a medalist for the first time this year, but we’re going to have to play better if we want to beat DP,” said coach Ryan Throop.
Santa Barbara needs to beat the Chargers at Glen Annie Golf Course in order to claim its first-ever Channel League championship. That match has been moved from this week to Monday.
San Marcos was led by Alexandria Peretiako, who shot a 50.
“I would like to praise the play of freshmen Melissa Jewkes and Brittany Peretiako,” said Royals coach Shawn Ricci. “Both these girls have improved their scores steadily over the course of the season. I look forward to both of them continuing to play over the next four years and bringing their scores down even more.”
