Cookie-powered Warriors sweep Santa Clara

The power of cookies.

After a lackluster effort in its previous outing, Carpinteria girls volleyball coach Katie Dolge came up with some team bonding activities in practice to keep things fun for the players. Part of the bonding included eating cookies.

It worked as the Warriors swept visiting Santa Clara 25-14, 25-16, 25-14 in a Frontier League match on Thursday,

“We came out and played well from the beginning,” said Dolge, whose team improved to 2-4 in league. “Santa Clara was close to us in each game and we took off. We played composed.”

Opposite Amy Davis led the Warriors with seven kills, while outside hitter Erin Callaway added six kills and had six digs. Libero Shelby Dunlap scooped up 10 digs.

“The girls played really well. They did things nice and easy and kept the ball in play,” Dolge said. “It was a good, solid win. And they needed it.”
