Cate hosted Viewpoint on Wednesday in an unorthodox cross country meet, using the combined scores from the boys and the girls teams to determine Cate the winner 105-122.
The boys started 3.5 minutes after the girls, and at the finish, the top ten runners from each team, regardless of gender, were counted.
Viewpoint’s Nikki Maslan was the overall winner in 20:18, but Cate runners took six of the top ten places.
Third-place finisher Spencer McAvoy vaulted to No. 6 on the all time Cate rankings with a time of 17:27. Cate’s second male runner, co-captain Jason Park, became the 14th-best Cate runner of all time with a personal best time of 18:22.
On the girls side, Adrian Walsh, who finished 4th overall on the day, became the sixth fastest Cate female runner on the Rams’ home course, with a time of 20:58. Denali Tietjen was right behind her, finishing 6th and moving up to ninth all time for Cate runners with a clocking of 21:14.
Cate’s next meet is a league meet on Wednesday at Thacher.
