Things didn’t start off so great for Dos Pueblos’ girls volleyball team in San Diego for the California Challenge.
The Chargers dropped their first match to Centennial before turning it around in a big way to reach Saturday’s Gold Bracket semifinals.
Dos Pueblos won its next three matches, including a 25-14, 20-25, 15-10 victory over the top seed in the Chargers’ pool, Archbishop Mitty. The Chargers also won a tight 25-23, 23-25, 15-10 decision over Cathedral Catholic.
“This team knows how to win when it counts,” said Chargers head coach Todd Garrett. “We had a rocky start but I am happy with how we finished the day.”
Garrett gave credit to Sierra Hofstatter for her service game and Katie Spieler and Jordan Roberts for their defense. Ciena Colburn and Sarah McKinny made an impact at the net with several key blocks.
