SBCC showed great consistency on Monday in scorching heat at WSC No. 4 on the Alisal River Course in Solvang.
Nicole Bullemer and Emily Wisma led the Vaquero golfers with 84s and Nicole Denny shot 85 in 100-plus temperatures. All six SBCC players were within six shots of each other, leading to a third-place finish at 340 behind Canyons (323) and Bakersfield (331).
The Vaqueros finished two strokes ahead of Glendale and remained in third place in the conference with an 8-8 record.
“We played a little better,“ said coach Chuck Melendez. “The heat was a real barrier. It scrambled everyone’s brain.
“We’re in a real strong conference and we’re starting to get more of our scores in the 80s. Hopefully, we’ll get a few in the 70s and then we’ll really be competitive.”
The Vaqueros will play in the North-South Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Morro Bay GC.
