Senior Enzo Wolfe had a hat trick, but the Santa Barbara High boys water polo team lost its season-opening match at Mira Costa on Saturday, 10-6.
The Dons, who return just two starters from last year, fell behind by two goals in the first quarter and never fully recovered.
“I think we’ll be pretty good once we get a little later in the season,” said coach Mark Walsh. “Today we were just poor in our 6-on-5 offense and our 5-on-6 defense.”
Nic Johnson added a pair of goals and Mark Davis had another. Goalie Sean McGee had 11 saves and Connor McManigal had three assists.
The Dons (0-1) play their home opener at 3:15 on Tuesday afternoon against Palos Verdes.
