Laguna Blanca was eliminated in the quarterfinals of its own tournament on Saturday. The Owls fell to eventual champion Viewpoint, 25-19.
Viewpoint, the No. 3-ranked team in CIF Divison 4-AA, edged St. Bonaventure, 25-22, in a tightly fought championship game.
Arrowhead Christian, ranked No. 8 in Division 3A, and Brethren Christian tied for third place.
Angelica Luczak of Viewpoint was named the tournament MVP.
Laguna Blanca, the top-ranked team in Division 4-AA, finished second to Arrowhead Christian in pool play. The Owls were playing without two starters who were taking ACT college entrance exams.
Coach Jim Alzina praised the all-around play of Amanda Harvey. She was the team’s top kill leader and “set a really good game,” the coach said.
He also cited libero Lilly Hodges and Fiona Jessup, who filled in for Amanda Schulenberg.
“She played an exceptional tournament,” Alzina said of Jessup.
