Freshman Shereka Thomas pounded 10 kills Friday night, leading SBCC to a 25-12, 25-13, 25-18 women’s volleyball sweep of Oxnard in the first round of the Santa Monica Tournament.
Allyson Porter added seven kills while Hillary Tomas had 10 digs and setter Kelsey Soos handed out 25 assists for the Vaqueros (1-2).
“Our serve-receive was good and our defense was steady,” said coach Ed Gover.
Santa Barbara will take on WSC rival Moorpark in the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Vaqueros and Raiders tied for the WSC North title last year.
