Dominique Yahyavi tore up defenses with his blazing runs down the right side when he played for Santa Barbara High four years ago.
He’s doing the same thing as a senior outside midfielder for Stanford.
A week ago, Yahyavi earned Pac-10 Player of the Week honors after scoring three goals in the Bay Area Classic. He scored the game winner in a 1-0 win over USF and put two in the back of the net in a 4-1 victory over Santa Clara.
This past weekend, he assisted on a bicycle-kick goal by Bobby Warshaw and tallied his fourth goal in three matches during the second half of a 3-0 win over St. Mary’s.
Adoni Levine played a long ball up the gut and Yahyavi slipped behind the defense for a 1v1 with the keeper. His shot was perfectly placed to give Stanford a two-goal lead.
The four goals are a career best for Yahyavi, who entered the season with just three goals.
Yahyavi, a 2007 SBHS grad, is a computer science major
