Hillary Tomas had 18 digs on Saturday but it wasn’t enough as SBCC fell to Cypress 3-0 in the championship of the Santa Monica women’s volleyball tournament. The scores were 25-12, 25-22, 25-19.
Jenn Waddill and Jaclyn Hadfield both hit .600 for the Vaqueros (2-3), who outlasted WSC rival Moorpark 3-2 in the semifinals on Saturday morning. Allyson Porter had 13 kills and hit .320 against Cypress.
In the morning match, Kelsey Soos did it all in a 25-21, 23-25, 25-14, 22-25, 15-10 triumph.
Soos, a 5-9 sophomore setter from Santa Ynez, had 45 assists, five kills and three ace serves. She led the conference last year with 51 aces.
The Vaqueros return to action on Saturday with a long trip south to Imperial Valley.
